Interview Q&A
How long have you been in business?
35 years, first in Gunbarrel and then in Longmont.
What is your primary product or service?
Instrumentation for Atmospheric and Meteorological Research. Every once in a while we get a request from a different industries to use our technology to solve a problem they have, and we usually respond, but the research is our main interest.
How did you first become interested in your line of business? (if owner) - What is your background? (If owner or store manager)
In the 1970's, we were doing similar work as part of Ball Brothers Research Corp. Towards the end of the 70's, Ball decided to get out of the business, so the managers of the department started Applied Technologies to continue the business.
How do you differentiate yourself from other businesses in your category and area?
We were one of the original companies doing this kind of work, and are now the longest lasting company still doing it. We do have the most experience, and are now being known for the best and most accurate instruments.
How many locations do you have and do you have plans to expand?
This is the only location. We have had to cut back because of the bad economy, but do plan to expand if the economy ever turns around again.
Provide detailed directions to your location
Our address seems to provide the correct location on most all the internet maps we have tried.
What type of payments do you accept?
Cash, checks, wire transfers, and credit cards.
Which areas do you service?
We sell to mostly Government Agencies and Universities doing research in Atmospheric Sciences. We sell to any country not on the US Governments 'no-sell' list. The majority of our business however is with the United States.
Who owns your company or runs daily operations?
The same two partners that spun off from Ball.
What are your hours of operation?
We respond to inquiries (mostly internet and e-mails) most any time of the day or night, because we do work with a lot of foreign countries, but our facility is open from 7:30 AM to 4:30 PM.
What is the best compliment anyone can give you?
The best compliment we get from our customers is when they thank us for such good service.
